Rupavahini TV is a national government television network situated in sri lanka. The live television is of great significance as it provides entertainment, information and education globally. Created under the government act on 23rd January 1982, the television was established on 15th February the same year with an opening speech from the president of sri lanka.

The Rupavahini TV transmits on a 20 hour schedule. Nevertheless, it features educational programming, news, discussion shows and teledramas. Being the largest TV broadcaster in sri lanka, it has a wide reception on island.
