Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha Elections Live Updates

Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha Elections are scheduled in a single phase on April 18th when the nation has its second phase elections. The state has 39 Lok Sabha seats of which All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) holds 37 and Paattali Makkal Kachi (PMK) has one. PMK is in alliance with AIADMK along with Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) and all are in alliance with BJP.

AIADMK has recently announced that it will be contesting from 20 constituencies namely Theni, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Pollachi, Erode, Salem, Kancheepuram, South Chennai, Thiruvallur, Arani, Tiruvannamalai, Chidambaram, Krishnagiri, Tiruppur, Mayiladuthurai, Karur, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, and Namakkal. The PMK party will contest from 7 constituencies namely Central Chennai, Dindigul, Arakkonam, Villupuram, Sriperumpudur, Dharmapuri, and Cuddalore, and BJP will contest from 5 constituencies namely Kanyakumari, Sivaganga, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram.

DMDK will contest in 4 locations namely North Chennai, Tiruchi, Virudhunagar, and Kallakurichi. Tamil Maanila Congress, Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) and All India NR Congress (AINRC) will each contest in one seat each. Congress that is in alliance with DMK is planning to contest for 9 seats in Tamil Nadu whereas DMK the stronger party will contest in 20 Lok Sabha constituencies. CPI and CPM will contest in two constituencies each and the other UPA Alliance parties like Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK), Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi, Indian Muslim League, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) will contest for 1 seat each.

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to happen on April 18th in Tiruvallur, Chennai North, Chennai South, Chennai Central, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram, Arakkonam, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tiruvannamalai, Arani, Viluppuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanthapuram, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari in one phase.
