Pratap (Mithun Chakraborty) comes to Bombay for better career opportunities. He stays in a Chawl where he befriends Gopal Mathur (Naseeruddin Shah), and his sister Maya (Yogeeta Bali). He succeeds considerably, he woos his boss daughter, Indrani (Ranjeeta), and he is soon promoted to the position of Deputy General Manager. Maya, who is totally oblivious of Prataps love for Indrani.
