3rd ODI Update:
Australia won by 21 runs. Australia 269/10 (49 Overs). India 248/10 (49.1).
Australia won the third ODI by 21 runs in a must-win game and eventually clinched the series with a 2-1. A perfect comeback from the Aussies after losing the first game. With this win, Australia becomes the no.1 team in ODI. Chasing 270, the Indian top order provided a solid start but failed to carry the momentum. The Men in Blue lost wickets regularly and failed to cross the finish line. It was Aussie spin duo Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar who troubled the Indian batters and helped their team win the bilateral series.
2nd ODI Update:
Australia made a brilliant comeback in the second ODI at Vishakapatnam and won the match by 10 wickets. Mitchell Starc (5/53) destroyed Indian batting and pushed them under pressure in the first half. Indian top order once again failed to rise to the occasion and the team managed to put just 117 on the board. Except for Virat Kohli (31) and Axar Patel (29), no other Indian batters seemed in good touch to attack Aussie bowlers.
Chasing 117, Australian openers Tim Head (51) and Mitchell Marsh (66) completed the formalities within 11 overs. With this win, Australia leveled the series 1-1. The final and decider game will be played in Chennai on 22nd March.
1st ODI Update:
A KLass inning from KL Rahul (75*) and a brilliant knock by Ravindra Jadeja (45*) guides India to win the first ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite losing early wickets in chasing a low score, Rahul and Jadeja built an unbeaten century partnership down the order and handed India a fantastic win. The match tilted towards Australia when Mitchell Starc dismissed Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav in successive balls. It was Rahul`s partnership with Hardik Pandya (25) that brought the game back in their favor.
Batting first, Australia lost opener Tim Head early, but Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith looked unstoppable and took on Indian bowlers. However, Jadeja sent Marsh (81) to the pavilion and scripted their downfall. Indian bowlers ripped Australia`s middle order and tailenders when they scored 188 on the board. Shami and Siraj were brilliant with the line, length and pace. Will India win the second ODI on Sunday and seal the series, or Australia come back strong?
