Soorasee puts the deities, Azamukhi and Jayant in a prison that is pitch dark. The deities are unable to see anything in the darkness. Kartikay realizes that his army is on the verge of exhaustion. Therefore, Kartikay decides to stay back and establish a Shivling there. Shiv appears before Kartikay and grants him "Pashpupataastr" on a condition. Baakhan and his followers are punished for their devotion towards Kartikay.
