Charsur Arts Foundation presents nine compositions of Muttusvami Dikshitar dedicated to the myriad forms of goddess this Navaratri. Accompanied by Violin : R K Shriramkumar Mridangam: N C Bharadwaj *Kalavati* In this evocative raga Kalavati, Muttusvami Dik?itar celebrates Goddess Sarasvati as the eternal deity of arts and speech, holding the vi?a in her hands, and revered as Sarada of Kashmir. She is envisioned bearing the Varada (boon-giving) and Abhaya (protection-assuring) mudras, along with a goad, a noose, and a sacred book. Dik?itar also extols her as the embodiment of the Bala and Ati Bala mantras, imparted by Sage Visvamitra to Rama and Lak?ma?a for their protection. Drawing inspiration from Adi Sa?kara, he describes her as Sarad-jyotsna-subhrakara—resplendent in a form as radiant as the autumn moonlight, echoing the imagery of a verse from the Saundaryalahari.
