Charsur Arts Foundation presents nine compositions of Muttusvami Dikshitar dedicated to the myriad forms of goddess this Navaratri. Accompanied by Violin : R K Shriramkumar Mridangam: N C Bharadwaj *I?anadi Sivakara* In his Sahana masterpiece, Muttusvami Dik?itar offers repeated salutations to the Supreme Goddess Sri Lalita Mahatripurasundari. She is depicted as seated gracefully on the Sivakara-mañce, resting upon the left thigh of Lord Siva. Flanked by Lak?mi and Sarasvati, she is revered and saluted by Goddesses Syamala (Mantri?i) and Bhagala. She bears in her hands the noose, goad, sugarcane bow, and five flower-arrows, embodying both grace and command. She is the one who burns away ignoble desires and who resides resplendently at the centre of the divine Sricakra. This imagery beautifully echoes Sri Adi Sa?kara’s Saundaryalahari verse Sudhasindhor Madhye, where the Goddess is described as seated amidst the ocean of nectar, on the Sivakara-mañce radiating supreme grace and splendour.
