*Sri Matah ?ivavamanke*
In this Begada masterpiece, Goddess Akhila??esvari—an epithet of Goddess Varahi—is celebrated as the ruler of the world, adorned with the Srichakra ta?a?ka, ear ornaments inscribed with the Srichakra. She is envisioned as dwelling within the heart of ascetics, who practice the eightfold path of Yoga. She is also venerated as Goddess Bagala and is the source of all creation and adept at granting the fruits of one’s desires. She, the pure and skillful one, encompasses both form and formlessness. A striking feature of this composition is that Dik?itar aligns the pallavi and anupallavi with the opening names of the Lalita Sahasranama—the first appearing in the pallavi, the second in the anupallavi.
